A New Future For The Burgh Chambers

In 2016 the Burntisland Community Action Plan (referred to as CAP) 2016 saw 5 themes emerging: arts, heritage and culture, local economy and tourism, community and regeneration; better local services; environment and access. Whilst the Burntisland Development Trust is leading the CAP, Burntisland Community Council and the Heritage Trust working with Fife Council, has since led on a project which is close to the hearts of people living in Burntisland, which is to reinstate the Clock Tower in the Burgh Chambers.

To inform this project and look at the wider context of the Clock Tower located in the Burgh Chambers complex including the Town Halls, the Community Council commissioned independent research with Community Enterprise and ARC Architects completing a technical feasibility study into the future of the buildings to determine how the project could become viable for the community through an asset transfer route to ownership and control.

The feasibility study finished in late 2018, concluded that a phased approach should be taken to the asset transfer and that key activities would focus on the Chambers providing space for weddings, parties, corporate functions, meeting room hire, a creative industry hub, holiday accommodation and a heritage hub.

This business plan will guide us through the first five years of the project to reinstate the Clock Tower and bring the Chambers back to become a thriving focal hub for Burntisland residents and visitors alike.
