The Group has been cleaning the beach since 2004. Over the years many bags of rubbish have been removed with the assistance of many people. At the moment it runs two clean-ups a year, sometimes in conjunction with the Marine Conservation Society, Keep Scotland Beautiful and Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (providing us with our litter equipment. We would like to do a clean-up every season but we need more help.
HISTORY OF SEAFIELD BEACH
The beach has played a very prominent part in the life of the town. There was the coal field just above the beach for many years. There was a swimming pool at the beach briefly and of course Seafield Tower has been a feature of the area since the middle ages. The area is now due for considerable change in the near future and it is important that local people are involved in the development.
Present Time
As well as conducting seasonal clean-up, the group runs various seaside activities such as summer barbeque, swimming, water sports activities, and historical walking tours including foraging and photography. Send us a message or e-mail us at seafieldenvironmentalgroup@mail.com
